Ones To Watch: Madam X

From first year fresher student to International DJ and label head, in such a short space of time Madam X is the ideal candidate to launch Ones To Watch.

From the beginning we always worked with and supported emerging talent within the music scene. Music is part of our DNA and the heartbeat within the brand so it seemed only fitting that we launch a Ones To Watch series by working hand to hand with the artists of today. We will find out the emerging talent of tomorrow and give them a platform to push their music globally and to the ears of our Bench Music listeners.

From first year fresher student to International DJ and label head, in such a short space of time Madam X has thrived within the underground Grime scene of Manchester and gone on and continue to grow herself, her label and champion other artists making her an ideal candidate to launch Ones To Watch.

Born and raised in Milton Keynes after her family came over from Greece she has since spent the last 5 years living in Manchester: “The city’s just different from anywhere else I’ve experienced or lived. The energy and attitude people have with their music is hard to replicate. There’s a real creative freedom here that makes a lot of what comes out of the city raw and refreshing.”

Madam X runs her own label and released the ‘Kaizen Movements’ compilation last year: “We released Biome’s Griddled EP at the end of January and the feedback’s been insane! The 2nd and 3rd releases are underway, so we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. Artists I’m really feeling this year are Biome, Walton, Silas & Snare, Lamont, Cousin, Levelz, the Nervous Horizon label – there’s loads I could name but these guys are pushing some great sounds.” Check out the exclusive Bench Music Madam X playlist.

There is a lot of activity already booked into the Madam X diary including her first booking in Cuba in May with Manana festival. She has her Amsterdam residency with the Digby Soundsystem and festival season is filling up quite nicely with Outlook, Annie Mac’s Lost & Found and a couple others confirmed.
